Welcome to our farm. We are an energetic couple, having spent a good 12 years together focusing on career and travel before starting a family. We now have two younger school-age children that flit about between extra-curricular lessons - everything from swimming and guitar, to cross-country and the chook pens and back!
Our Home stay wasn't always intended as a Bed & Breakfast. It basically grew on it's own, in a natural sort of progression. Our separate businesses design, manufacture and sell portable sawmills around the world. In the beginning, we hosted international clients who had come to see these sawmills. Then in the quiet weeks the house began to feel a bit empty, and the spare rooms just seemed to be sort of . . . "waiting."
Meanwhile, we have a piece of paradise right on the fringe of NZ's favourite tourist town. We felt kinda greedy in a way. So the perfect solution? Share.
We are a bit different from the "norm" in home stays, and feel we have several truly unique advantages to offer:
1. We don't hang around during the day - we go to work after the breakfast run, and are home in time for the kids. The advantage to you? You don't feel tied down, you get lots of space to relax and you can come and go as you please!
2. We are younger than the "norm" for Home stay hosts - we have cocktail evenings now and then, and can point you in the direction of some good cafe's and nightspots. We can even hook you up with a host for a day or evening, if you want an informal tour of the town.
3. We have kids still at home, so our place is set up for kids. Families feel comfortable here. We have the space, the games, and the facilities. We won't have a heart attack if some sand gets tracked in on the carpet - there are such things as vacuum cleaners! We still insist on quiet space for our guests, so our kids know how to respect your privacy and head to bed on time!
